mente que nos transmite hoje uma imagem da realidade onde não há diferença,
nenhuma fronteira, entre um grão de areia, uma gota de água, um flash de

Bio
João Tabarra (Lisboa, 1966) estudou fotografia na Arco Centro de Arte e
Comunicação Visual. De momento vive e trabalha em Lisboa e Karlsruhe
(Alemanha). Começou a expor com regularidade no final dos anos 80 tendo
consolidado um percurso que conta com a sua presença em relevantes projetos
expositivos nacionais e internacionais tanto individualmente como em
coletivos. Está representado em prestigiadas coleções, institucionais e
privadas, fazendo os seus trabalhos parte dos acervos das mesmas em
Portugal e Estrangeiro. Continua a desenvolver e a apresentar o seu
trabalho a par com inúmeras solicitações para conferências, debates e
masterclasses em importantes e reconhecidas instituições. No âmbito dum
doutoramento, desenvolve desde 2017 uma investigação intitulada 'Imagem e
porosidade' , tendo como Mentora, Nicole Brenez (professora na Paris 3
Universidade Sorbonne Nouvelle; curadora dos avant-garde screenings na
Cinémathèque Française; membro sénior do Institut Universitaire de France).
É professor de Moving Images no Departamento de Media Arts, HGK Karlsruhe
University for Arts and Design, Karlsruhe, Alemanha, onde fundou a
plataforma Zeitbild-Lab , com o professor Razvan Radulesco e a professora
doutora Christine Reh, para apoio à producão e distribuicão da obra
cinematográfica dos alunos da Universidade

the mind which conveys to us nowadays an image of reality where there is no
difference and no boundaries between a grain of sand, a drop of water, a
flash of electricity and a fragrance of a tree.” Naum Gabo: Trowbridge
Lecture, Yale University, 1948 BIO João Tabarra (Lisbon, 1966) studied
photography at Arco Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual. At the moment he
lives and works in Lisbon and Karlsruhe (Germany). He began to exhibit
regularly at the end of the 1980s, having consolidated a path that includes
his presence in relevant national and international projects and
exhibitions, both individually and in groups. Tabarra is represented in
prestigious institutional and private collections, having his work being
part of their collections in Portugal and abroad. He continues to develop
and present his work together with numerous requests for conferences,
debates and masterclasses in important and recognized institutions. As part
of a doctorate, since 2017 he has been carrying out research entitled
'Image and porosity', having as a Mentor, Nicole Brenez (professor at Paris
3 Universidade Sorbonne Nouvelle; curator of avant-garde screenings at
Cinémathèque Française; senior member of the Institut Universitaire de
France). He is a professor of Moving Images at the Department of Media
Arts, HGK Karlsruhe University for Arts and Design, Karlsruhe, Germany,
where he founded, together with Professor Razvan Radulescu and Doctor
Professor Christine Reh, the platform Zeitbild-Lab to support the
production and distribution of cinematographic works for students at the
University.*
