Para chegarmos à poça, vindos do lado da casa, quer passemos por dentro da
estufa, quer a contornemos pelo exterior, temos sempre de passar debaixo da
figueira.
Apesar desta árvore contar já com doze anos, a sua presença só tem lugar
nas minhas memórias quando comecei a colher os seus figos, há três anos.
Até esse momento, eu não gostava de figos.
Hoje, sempre que a visito durante o mês de Setembro, subo ao telhado do
barraco - paredes meias com a poça -, para depois me fazer acompanhar por
todos os frutos maduros que se encontram ao alcance de dois braços. Desço,
de volta à casa, como e partilho - assim lhes ganhei o gosto.
Desde então, se penso na poça, penso na figueira e, se penso na figueira,
penso nas galinhas que vivem à sua sombra. As galinhas são as maiores
privilegiadas: todos os figos que caem e todas as cascas daqueles que
passam por boca humana, são seus. É por este motivo que acredito que os
seus ovos são os melhores ovos do mundo.
Falo-vos do real que tantas vezes roça o absurdo porque é exactamente esse
lugar, tão carregado de imagens, de cheiros, de toques, de modos de fazer e
de estar, o primeiro lugar de tudo aquilo que produzo.

Bio
Rita Senra (Barcelos, 1993) vive e trabalha no Porto. É licenciada em Artes
Plásticas pela Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade do Porto. Em 2015,
ao abrigo do programa Eramus+, integrou o estúdio de Jiřího Příhody -
Akademie výtvarných umění v Praze, República Checa. Desenvolve o seu
trabalho artístico nas áreas do desenho e da instalação, dando lugar a
exposições, tanto individuais como colectivas, desde o ano de 2014. É
membro do Sismógrafo, um espaço cultural no Porto, desde 2016.










*-- [EN] Running stitch To get to the puddle from the side of the house,
whether we pass through the greenhouse or go around it from the outside, we
always have to pass under the fig tree. Although this tree is already
twelve years old, its presence only has a place in my memories when I
started to pick its figs three years ago. Until that moment, I didn't like
figs. Today, whenever I visit her during the month of September, I climb to
the roof of the shack - walls next to the puddle -, to be accompanied by
all the ripe fruit within arm's reach. I go down, back to the house, eat
and share - that's how I got the taste for them. Since then, if I think of
the puddle, I think of the fig tree, and if I think of the fig tree, I
think of the hens that live in its shade. The hens are the most privileged:
all the figs that fall and all the shells of those that pass through the
human mouth, are theirs. It is for this reason that I believe their eggs
are the best eggs in the world. I speak to you of the real that so often
borders on the absurd because it is exactly this place, so full of images,
smells, touches, ways of doing and being, that is the first place of
everything I produce. Running stitch, running tales.  *

*BIO  Rita Senra (Barcelos, 1993) lives and works in Oporto. She has a
degree in Plastic Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of
Porto. In 2015, under the Eramus+ programme, she joined the studio of
Jiřího Příhody - Akademie výtvarných umění v Praze, Czech Republic. He
develops his artistic work in the areas of drawing and installation, giving
rise to both solo and group exhibitions since the year 2014. She is a
member of Sismógrafo, a cultural space in Porto, since 2016.*
