“Faca nos dentes, roda no ar” é uma instalação desenhada especificamente para a sala de exposições do Maus Hábitos, que acolhe uma selecção de trabalhos em filme, fotografia e som captados em viagem por Mónica Baptista ao longo dos últimos anos.<br>
<br>
A exposição de Mónica Baptista em parceria com Dayana Lucas parte da cumplicidade entre ambas e propõe um percurso-território marcado pelos movimentos e cadências das imagens e texturas, pelos fluxos e ritmos impressos pelo som, questionando a sua capacidade de dar abrigo ou proporcionar a viagem, a suspensão. Uma caminhada para o esvaziamento.<br>

<strong>BIOS</strong><br>
<a href="http://www.dayanalucas.com/" style="color:#656565;font-weight:normal;text-decoration:underline" target="_blank"><span style="font-size:14px">𝗗𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗟𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘀</span></a><span style="font-size:14px"> </span>nasceu em 1987 em Caracas, Venezuela. Em 2003 mudou-se para a Ponta do Sol (Ilha da Madeira), de onde são provenientes os seus pais, e em 2006 para o Porto onde obteve a licenciatura em Design de Comunicação na Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto (2006—2010). Foi co-fundadora da Oficina Arara entre 2010 e 2017, onde desenvolveu trabalho tanto na área do design e da impressão com diversos meios manuais, como na organização de exposições, workshops e encontros com a comunidade artística do Porto. Colabora desde 2010 com o colectivo SOOPA que se desdobra em diversas áreas: música, teatro e dança contemporânea.<br>
<br>
Enquanto artista desenvolve uma pesquisa prática na área do desenho com particular interesse na passagem do desenho para a escultura. Trabalha também como designer na área da cultura, tendo colaborado com músicos, artistas plásticos e diversas instituições culturais portuguesas. Em 2019 criou o projecto ORINOCO, uma editora de livros e outras edições de artista.<br>
<br>
<span style="font-size:14px">𝗠𝗼́𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮</span> nasceu em 1984 no Porto. Formada em Artes Plásticas-Pintura pela Faculdade de Belas-Artes do Porto. Desenvolve trabalho na área da fotografia, cinema documental e experimental, com especial foco nos meios analógicos, super8, 16mm e 35mm. Pitões das Júnias (Trás-os-Montes) tem sido um lugar gestacional para o desenvolvimento do seu trabalho, assim como contextos cíclicos de viagem.<br>
<br>
Realizou diversas residências artísticas das quais se destacam, ZDB - Lisboa, Location One - Nova Iorque, Crater Lab - Barcelona, Atelier 105, Light Cone - Paris e LEC - Laboratório Experimental de Cine na Cidade do México. O seu trabalho tem sido exibido em Portugal e internacionalmente, em galerias e festivais de cinema. Da sua filmografia fazem parte “Água Forte”(2018), “Cem Raios t’Abram” (co-realização, 2015), “Teares” (2014), “Diário” (2010): prémio BES Revelação - exibido no Museu de Serralves, e o documentário Territórios (2009) estreado na Semana da Crítica (Festival de Cannes) e vencedor do prémio de Melhor Realização no festival Visions du Réel (Suíça).<br>

É co-fundadora da Cooperativa Cultural LAIA, projecto orientado para a produção e investigação na área do cinema experimental.<br>

“Faca nos dentes, roda no ar” is an installation designed specifically for Maus Hábitos’s exhibition room, which hosts a selection of works in film, photography and sound captured in journeys by Mónica Baptista over the past few years.<br>

The exhibition by Mónica Baptista in partnership with Dayana Lucas was drawn from the complicity between them and offers a path through a territory marked by movements and cadences of images and textures, by the flows and rhythms imprinted by the sound, questioning their ability to give shelter or provide the journey, a suspension. A walk to emptying.<br>

About the curatorship and the artist:<br>
<br>
𝗗𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗟𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘀 was born in 1987 in Caracas, Venezuela. In 2003 she moved to Ponta do Sol (Madeira Island, Portugal), where her parents are from, and in 2006 to Porto where she got a degree in Communication Design in the Fine Arts School (2006-2010). She was co-founder of OFICINA ARARA between 2010 and 2017, where she developed works in design, printing with different techniques and also in the organization of exhibitions, workshops and meetings with the artistic community of Porto. She colaborates since 2010 with the collective SOOPA that unfolds in different areas: music, theatre and contemporary dance.<br>
As an artist she develops a practical research in drawing, with a particular interest in the transition from drawing to sculpture. She also works as a designer in the cultural field, having collaborated with artists and different cultural institutions in Portugal. In 2019 she created the publishing project ORINOCO, dedicated to artist books and other editions.<br>
<br>
𝗠𝗼́𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗕𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮, (born in 1984), is a visual artist and experimental filmmaker based in Porto, Portugal. She studied Fine Arts-Painting and has delved into photography, experimental cinema and documentary, using mainly analog formats as Super8, 16mm and 35mm.<br>
Held several artist residencies: ZDB - Lisbon, Location One - New York, Crater Lab - Barcelona, Atelier 105 - Light Cone - Paris and LEC in Mexico City.<br>
She collaborated in expanded cinema performances with the musicians Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, Pedro Burmester and João Pais Filipe.<br>
Her works have been screened and exhibited worldwide in galleries, museums and film festivals.<br>
Her filmography includes “Água Forte” (2018), “May a Hundred Bolts of Lightning Open You” (co-directed, 2015), “Looms” (2014), “Diary “ (2010) BES Revelation Award - shown at Serralves Museum, and the documentary “Territories” (2009) premiered at Critics Week (Cannes) and winner of the Best Director award at the Visions du Réel festival (Switzerland).<br>
