"Quando em 2012 visitei o museu Glyptothek em Munique, fiquei deslumbrada com um torso que estava exposto. Para exprimir o que esta estátua provocou quando a observei e fotografei, recorro às palavras de Jacques Rancière, do livro, O Espectador Emancipado: "Não tem boca para transmitir uma mensagem, não tem rosto para exprimir um sentimento, não tem membros para dirigir ou executar uma ação". Esta estátua mutilada, esta forma mítica está privada do seu mundo, já não transmite qualquer espécie de grandeza social. Não exprime nenhum sentimento, não propõe nenhuma ação, no entanto, a superfície parece que «olha» o espectador por todos os lados. Tomo “emprestadas” as fotografias realizadas e as palavras para dar forma/corpo a esta proposta a que chamei GL 574, que corresponde ao número de inventário desta estátua. "<br>

<br>
<strong>Carla Castiajo</strong> licenciou-se em Arte e Design, em 2003, na Escola Superior de Arte e Design (ESAD), em Matosinhos, Portugal. Concluiu o mestrado em Belas-Artes, em 2006, na Konstfack, em Estocolmo, Suécia. Finalizou o doutoramento, em 2016, na Estonian Academy of Arts, Tallinn, Estónia. O tema da sua pesquisa artística foi Purity or Promiscuity? Exploring Hair as a Raw Material in Jewellery and Art. Lecionou em diversas universidades em diferentes países, como a Beaconhouse National University, em Lahore, Paquistão, a Oakham School, em Oakham, Inglaterra, a Escola Superior de Arte e Design em Matosinhos, Portugal, a Estonian Academy of Arts, em Tallinn, Estónia, e a Academy of Fine Arts and Design, em Bratislava, Eslováquia.<br>
Carla Castiajo cruza no seu trabalho as áreas de arte e joalharia. Nos últimos anos tem utilizado muitas vezes o cabelo humano/pelo como material. Recorre aos materiais, para comunicar as suas ideias, pois estes possuem os seus próprios atributos e natureza simbólico-cultural, incorporam significados e podem criar e estabelecer diferentes diálogos. O seu trabalho tem sido apresentado em diversas exposições em diferentes países. </span><br>

<em>"When in 2012 I visited the Glyptothek museum, in Munich, I was dazzled with a torso that was exposed there. To express what this statue provoked when I observed and photographed it, I will appeal to the words of Jacques Rancière, from the book The Emancipated Spectator: “which has no face to express any feeling, no arms or legs to command or carry out any action”. This mutilated statue, this mythical form, is deprived from its world, it no longer transmits any kind of social grandeur. It does not express any feeling, it does not propose any action, however, the surface seems to “be looking” at the spectator from all sides. I “borrow” the photographs taken and the words to give form/body to this proposal I called GL 574,that corresponds to the inventory number of this statue. "<br>
