The ruling overturns a previous customs tribuneral verdict, reports <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/2010/dec/20/art-dan-flavin-light-eu" style="text-decoration: none; color: rgb(52, 102, 137); font-size: 1em; font-weight: bold; font-family: 'Times New Roman';" target="_blank">The Guardian</a>, and comes at the end of a dispute between London's Haunch of Venison gallery and British customs authorities that has been 'raging' since 2006. The ruling also covers any imported Bill Viola works as the Commission concluded that any screens and other equipment used in the artist's video installations are not the work of art itself: "It is not the installation that constitutes a 'work of art' but the result of the operations (the light effect) carried out by it," they ruled. Ah well, at least someone has found the 'work of art' in Viola's offerings.</div>
