Transpondo ou Galgando – A meta-fotografia de Limamil

A trilogia exposta consagra um labor artístico que transcende o espaço
físico devotado a cada um dos exemplares fotográficos. Os artefactos em
causa quer no seu conjunto, bem como individualmente, vinculam a emergência
de transpor o espaço a que estão confinados, quase se debatem física e
presencialmente com o observador. Há um conceito subjacente a este
exercício de Limamil que rompe com as molduras e ousa partir os vidros,
como se fosse vital o ganho de um espaço ulterior para a fotografia
respirar.

O impacto visual recepcionado por quem observa cada um dos instantes
registados traduz um efeito de jornada processual entre o momento da
captação fotográfica e uma acção que sugere uma fuga ao dispositivo
tecnológico utilizado. O autor deixa margem de ousadia ao observador para
percepcionar a dimensão temporal da circunstância de que resulta o binómio
aparentemente paradoxal entre o que é estático e o que se exprime como
cinético.

No domínio da fisicalidade captada pelo agente fotográfico, que aqui assume
uma dupla condição de estatuto enquanto actor fotográfico, há algo que
impele o indivíduo a uma pulsão explícita: libertar a tensão fotográfica
para lá dos limites.

Bio

O momento mais memorável do seu percurso artístico ocorreu na sua
adolescência, quando adquiriu a sua primeira máquina fotográfica, uma Kodak
110, que lhe custou quase 3 semanas de mesada. Desde então, o meio
tecnológico da fotografia tornou-se na ferramenta perfeita para todo o
desenvolvimento do seu trabalho artístico, sendo ainda hoje a sua
ferramenta predileta de investigação. As suas mais recentes produções
plásticas apresentadas na exposição intitulada de Transfotografia #01, são
igualmente produzidas a partir de uma forte inspiração na técnica, história
e conceitos do meio fotográfico.

Foi docente na ESAP, Escola Superior Artística do Porto, no curso superior
de Fotografia. Doutorando em Valência na UPV, em Arte: Producción e
investigación.

Foi professor assistente no ICP – International Center of Photography in
New York. Produz documentação fotográfica para instituições públicas e
privadas desde 1997. Trabalha na FBAUP, Faculdade de Belas Artes da
Universidade do Porto, como técnico superior de fotografia. Desenvolve
ainda vários projetos como comissário e artista. O seu trabalho está
representado em diversas instituições e colecionadores particulares.

*-- [EN] Transposing or crossing over - Limamil's meta-photography The
exhibited trilogy consecrates an artistic labor that transcends the
physical space devoted to each of the photographic images. The artifacts in
question, both as a whole and individually, bind the emergence of
transposing the space to which they are confined, almost struggling
physically and face-to-face with the observer. There is an underlying
concept to this exercise by Limamil that breaks with the frames and dares
to break glass, as if it were vital to gain an additional space for the
photograph to be able to breathe. The visual impact received by those who
observe each of the recorded instants reflects the effect of a procedural
journey between the moment of photographic capture and an action that
suggests an escape from the technological device used. The author leaves a
margin of daring to the observer to perceive the temporal dimension of the
circumstance that results in the apparently paradoxical binomial between
what is static and what is expressed as kinetic. In the realm of
physicality captured by the photographic agent, who hereby assumes a double
status as a photographic actor, there is something that impels the
individual to an explicit drive: to release photographic tension beyond its

*BIO The most memorable moment of his artistic journey occurred during his
adolescence, when he acquired his first camera, a Kodak 110, which cost him
almost 3 weeks of pocket money. Since then, the technological medium of
photography has become the perfect tool for all the development of his
artistic work, and is still today his favorite research tool. His most
recent visual productions presented in the exhibition Transfotografia #01,
are also produced from a strong inspiration in technique, history and
concepts of the photographic medium. He was teacher at ESAP, Escola
Superior Artística do Porto, in the photography course. He is now doing a
PhD in Valencia at UPV, in Arte: Producción e investigación. He was an
assistant professor at the ICP - International Center of Photography in New
York. He produces photographic documentation for public and private
institutions since 1997. He works at FBAUP, Faculdade de Belas Artes da
Universidade do Porto, as a photography technician. He also develops
