“…que eu também não adoeça de Brasil!”, do artista transdisciplinar Mãe
Paulo é uma espécie de colagem elaborada a partir de imagens e textos de
autorias aleatórias encontrados em redes sociais, os quais abordam momentos
tenebrosos da recente história do Brasil: o dia em a maior floresta
tropical do mundo teve diversos pontos queimados e o dia em que o
ex-secretário de cultura fez um pronunciamento público sem disfarçar o seu
cariz nazi-fascista. Claramente, notamos que a pesquisa antropológica e
sociopolítica são disciplinas que fazem parte do processo criativo do
artista na elaboração de uma proposição visual, onde a política e a poética
são impensáveis de modo independente.

Bio
Mãe Paulo
Vive e trabalha entre Portugal e Brasil. É artista e curador independente,
membro fundador da Cia. Excessos e da eRevista Performatus, e organizador e
diretor da Mostra Performatus. Atualmente, é mestrando em Artes Plásticas
com percurso em Escultura na Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do
Porto em Portugal. Também, nessa mesma faculdade, fez uma especialização em
Práticas Artísticas Contemporâneas e, na Faculdade de Letras dessa mesma
universidade, licenciou-se em História da Arte. Tem integrado exposições
coletivas nacionais e internacionais, e algumas de suas obras integram
permanentemente o acervo de alguns museus, como o do Museu de Arte Moderna
do Rio de Janeiro (Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brasil), o do Museu de Arte
Contemporânea de Niterói (Niterói, RJ, Brasil) e o da Fundação Memorial da
América Latina (São Paulo, SP, Brasil). Participou das seguintes
residências artísticas: Programa de Residências Despina (Rio de Janeiro,
RJ, Brasil, 2019); Fjúk Arts Centre (Húsavík, Islândia, 2015-16); e Casa do
Sol – Instituto Hilda Hilst (Campinas, SP, Brasil, 2014).



*[EN] "... that I also do not get sick of Brazil!” by transdisciplinary
artist Mãe Paulo is a kind of collage made from images and texts of random
authors found on social networks, which approach dark moments in the recent
history of Brazil: the day in the largest rainforest in the world had
several burnt points and the day when the former secretary of culture made
a public speech without disguising his Nazi-fascist nature. Clearly, we
note that anthropological and sociopolitical research are disciplines that
are part of the artist's creative process in the elaboration of a visual
proposition, where politics and poetics are unthinkable independently.

*BIO  Mãe Paulo Lives and works between Portugal and Brazil. He is an
artist and independent curator, founding member of Cia. Excessos and
eRevista Performatus, and organizer and director of Mostra Performatus.
Currently, he is a Master's student with a Pathway in Sculpture the Faculty
of Fine Arts of the University of Porto in Portugal. Also, in that same
faculty, he did a specialization in Contemporary Artistic Practices and, in
the Faculty of Arts of that same university, he graduated in Art History.
He has integrated national and international collective exhibitions, and
some of his works are permanently part of the collection of some museums,
such as the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro (Rio de Janeiro, RJ,
Brazil), the Museum of Contemporary Art of Niterói (Niterói, RJ, Brazil)
and the Memorial Foundation of Latin America (São Paulo, SP, Brazil). He
participated in the following artist residencies: Despina Residency Program
(Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil, 2019); Fjúk Arts Centre (Húsavík, Iceland,
2015-16); and Casa do Sol - Hilda Hilst Institute (Campinas, SP, Brazil,
