António Poppe é o artista convidado desta edição para participar da
residência artística na qual irá desenvolver o seu trabalho. Durante o
processo de criação, no dia 14 de setembro, haverá uma performance-conversa
a ser realizada, em que será possível conhecer o seu corpo de trabalho.
Este será um momento importante de exploração, reflexão e conhecimento do
seu percurso, possibilitando uma perspectiva mais ampla em diálogo com o
público. Poppe cria entre a palavra, o desenho, a colagem e a meditação. A
poesia sempre manifesta pelo pensamento aberto ao que vem, à
performatividade, na sua lavrameditação. Concretiza-se também através do
canto, da declamação num cruzamento instintivo de outras culturas e
civilizações, que nos transportam a outros tempos e lugares.

António Poppe (1968, Lisboa).
Artista visual, poeta, performer, vive e trabalha em Lisboa. Estudou no
Ar.Co (Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual), no Royal College of Arts em
Londres e na School of the Art Institute of Chicago como bolseiro da
Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian e Fundação Luso Americana para o
Desenvolvimento onde realizou um Mestrado em Arte Performativa e Cinema.
Tem trabalho híbrido de poesia e artes visuais editado pela Assírio & Alvim
("Torre de Juan Abad", 2001), Documenta ("Livro da Luz", 2012) e Douda
Correria ("medicin." em 2015 e "come coral" em 2017). Já atuou e/ou expôs
em espaços como o Museu de Serralves, Galeria ZDB, Galeria 111, Culturgest,
Fundação Carmona e Costa, entre outros. Em 2015 participou em "Oracular
Spectacular - Desenho e Animismo", no Centro de Artes José de Guimarães
(CIAJG); em 2017 expôs "Watercourse" na Galeria 111, com Joana Fervença, e
participou em "Encontros para Além da História", sob o tema "As Magias"
(CIAJG). No ano seguinte colaborou com Mumtazz na 6ª edição dos "Encontros
para Além da História", desta feita sob o tema "O Nascimento da Arte"
(d'après Georges Bataille), também no CIAJG; colaborou com "musa
paradisiaca" em "Collaboration", curadoria de Filipa Oliveira no Quetzal
Art Centre em Jachthuis Schijf, Holanda; e desenvolveu uma residência
artística e seminário na Porta 33, na ilha da Madeira, enquadrado no ciclo
"Mais importante do que desenhar é afiar o lápis", com curadoria de Nuno
Faria. Em 2019, participou numa exposição na galeria ZDB, em Lisboa.

*António Poppe is the guest artist of this edition to participate in the
artistic residency in which he will develop his work. During the process of
creation, on September 14th, there will be held a performance/talk, in
which it will be possible to get to know his body of work. This will be an
important moment of exploration, reflection and knowledge of its path,
enabling a broader perspective in dialogue with the public. Poppe creates
between the word, the drawing, the collage and the meditation. Poetry
always manifests by thinking openly to what comes, to performativity in its
lavrameditation. It's also concretized through singing, declamation in an
instinctive crossing of other cultures and civilizations, which transport
us to other times and places.*



*António Poppe (1968, Lisbon). Visual artist, poet, performer, lives and
works in Lisbon. Studied at Ar.Co (Center for Art and Visual
Communication), the Royal College of Arts in London and the School of the
Art Institute of Chicago as a fellow of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation

curated by Nuno Faria. In 2019, Poppe participated in an exhibition at the
ZDB gallery in Lisbon.*
