*O Vivarium Festival está de volta ao Porto dia 28, 29 e 30 de março para
refletir sobre o impacto da tecnologia nas artes e na sociedade*

O tema da edição 2019 é *“Natural Intelligence, What AI still can’t do?” *em
referência ao livro de 1972 de Hubert L. Dreyfus, “What Computers Still
Can’t Do, A Critique Of Artificial Reason”.

*EXPOSIÇÕES & PERFORMANCES *
Na área das artes visuais, estarão expostos no Maus Hábitos

de *Daniel Pires *que revela o arquivo fotográfico de 18 anos do Maus
Hábitos;* Openfiel CreativeLab *que reúne múltiplas reinterpretações desse
arquivo através de video-instalação; *Justine Emard* que expõe na Mupi
Gallery; *Pedro Bandeira &18:25* levam-nos numa viagem de realidade virtual
num espaço concreto; *Cada *que com* "*TYRO, um Chatbot de AI" permite-nos
uma conversa, ou algo parecido com isso, com um computador.
Contamos ainda com *Isaque Pinheiro*;* Antoine D’Agata*;* Catarina Rangel
Pereira*; *Canal 180 x Art&Tech Days* e* Inês Castanheira*. As exposições
estarão patentes durante os três dias do festival e têm entrada gratuita.
Em performance há a estreia nacional de "Velvet Carpet" de *Pedro Prazeres*
; *Yuko Kominami* numa peça de dança butoh; *Jung In Jung* cruza o som, o
corpo e o espaço com tecnologia interativa; e *Dasniya Sommer *explora a
milenar arte do shibari.

*PENSAMENTO & WORKSHOPS*
"Create concepts - follow rules" é uma conferência de filosofia que
acontece na Reitoria da U.Porto com alguns convidados da filosofia e das
artes: *Charles Travis, Jean-Claude Dumoncel, Sofia Miguens, Catarina Pombo
Nabais, João Ribas *e* Francisco C. Santos. *
"E — X — S — I",  organizado por *Ana Carvalho* e* Diogo Tudela
(ISMAI)  *apresenta um
encontro para uma reflexão coletiva, sobre a articulação entre a prática e
a investigação contemporânea nos diversos domínios do som e da imagem.
"Senses Places, enraizar para virtualizar", é um workshop orientado por *Isabel
Valverde *em ambiente de realidade mista que culmina numa performance

*CONCERTOS **& CLUBBING:*
Para o primeiro dia do festival há o concerto de *Ricardo Dias* às 22h30 no
Maus Hábitos.
No dia seguinte, às 22h00, *Elizabeth Brown* numa performance ao vivo que
junta theremin, electrónica e vídeos de Lothar Osterburg; *Magna
Ferreira *apresenta-se
no Ateneu Comercial com um concerto para vozes, corpos e metrónomos, a
partir das 21h30.
E no sábado, último dia do festival, *Tim Hecker

 *apresenta-se
no Passos Manuel às 23h, artista que ao longo da última década tem estado
em cruzada pela união entre a máquina e o homem. Destrói para construir e,
aí, reorganiza o caos em paisagens ambientais de uma densidade quase
impenetrável.
O cartaz de concertos conta ainda com *Stereoboy,* e no clubbing, *Proc
Fiskal*; *YNK Yannick Hofmann*; e *Bleid. *O festival fecha com a comemoração
de aniversário dos 18 anos de Maus Hábitos que culmina no Vivarium Clubbing
onde as festas emblemáticas da casa juntam-se para celebrar esta data tão
especial: *Crónica Electrónica, Banho Maria, Shuggah Lickurs, Beyoncé Fest,
Monster Jinx *e* Groove Ball*.

*Vivarium Festival is back in Porto on the 28, 29 and 30 of March to
reflect on the impact of technology on the arts and society*

The theme of the 2019 edition is *“Natural Intelligence, What AI still
can’t do?”* in reference to Hubert L. Dreyfus's 1972 book, "What Computers
Still Can not Do, A Critique of Artificial Reason."

*EXHIBITIONS & PERFORMANCES *
In the area of visual arts, will be exhibited in Maus Hábitos

works by *Daniel Pires* that reveals the 18 year old photographic archive
of Maus Hábitos; *Openfiel CreativeLab* that gathers multiple
reinterpretations of this archive through video-installation; *Justine
Emard* exhibiting at the Mupi Gallery; *Pedro Bandeira & 18: 25 *take us on
a virtual reality trip applied to a concrete space; *Cada* that with "TYRO,
an AI Chatbot" allows us to have a conversation, or something like that,
with a computer.
We also have *Isaque Pinheiro*; *Antoine D'Agata*; *Catarina Rangel Pereira*;
*Canal 180 x Art & Tech Days* and I*nês Castanheira*. The exhibitions stay
the three days of the festival and are of free entry.
In performance there is the national debut of "Velvet Carpet" by *Pedro
Prazeres*; *Yuko Kominami* in a butoh dance piece; *Jung In Jung* combines
sound, body and space with interactive technology; and* Dasniya Sommer*
explores the ancient art of shibari.

*THINKING & WORKSHOPS*
"Create concepts - follow rules" is a philosophy conference that takes
place in the U.Porto Rectory with some guests of the arts and
philosophy: *Charles
Travis*, *Jean-Claude Dumoncel*, *Sofia Miguens*, *Catarina Pombo
Nabais*, *João
Ribas* and *Francisco C. Santos*.
"E - X - S - I", organized by *Ana Carvalho and Diogo Tudela (ISMAI)* it's
a meeting for a collective reflection on the articulation between practice
and contemporary research in the various domains of sound and image.
"Senses Places, enraizar para virtualizar", is a workshop led by *Isabel
Valverde *in a mixed reality environment that culminates in a participatory
performance. *Enrollment is needed to participate in this event and it's
limited.*

*CONCERTS & CLUBBING*
For the first day of the festival we have the *Ricardo Dias* concert at
10.30 pm at Maus Hábitos.
The next day, at 10:00 p.m., Elizabeth Brown in a live performance that
combines theremin, electronics and videos of Lothar Osterburg; *Magna
Ferreira* will be at the Ateneu Comercial with a concert for voices, bodies
and metronomes, starting at 9.30 pm.
And on Saturday, the last day of the festival, *Tim Hecker *performs at
Passos Manuel at 11pm, an artist who over the past decade has been in a
crusade for the union between the machine and the man. Destroys to build
and then reorganizes the chaos in environmental landscapes of a density
almost impenetrable.
The concert program also features *Stereoboy*, and in clubbing, *Proc
Fiskal*; *YNK Yannick Hofmann*; and *Bleid*. The festival closes with the
celebration of the 18th anniversary of Maus Hábitos which culminates in
Vivarium Clubbing where the emblematic parties of the house come together
to celebrate this special date: *Crónica Electrónica, Banho Maria, Shuggah
Lickurs, Beyoncé Fest, Monster Jinx **and** Groove Ball*.
