O projeto Apneia apresenta o resultado do trabalho desenvolvido na 1a residência artística com Alexandra Rafael e João Leal, numa exposição que explora o cruzamento e diálogo de objetos construídos a partir (e por consequência) da experimentação de cada artista. Por um lado Alexandra Rafael trabalha o conceito da ação enquanto transformação emocional e/ou matérica, suportando e arrastando nos seus desenhos tanto o peso da sua memória como a fragilidade da sua construção. Por outro, João Leal parte de uma relação com o próprio público, onde as pessoas são ativadoras da construção de uma sequência de imagens fílmicas, suportada por mecanismos analógicos. A exposição revela-se, assim, como um lugar comum de transformação e inquietação, entre o caos da construção de uma imagem e o sublime do seu fim.

Apneia.1

Apneia é uma plataforma desenvolvida pelos artistas Hugo Soares, João Gigante e Reis Valdrez, assente no apoio à produção e teorização das artes plásticas, através da criação de residências artísticas. Pretende convocar individualidades distintas, unidas por um pensar artístico comum, e programar cada residência através de diálogos entre os artistas e da exposição publica do trabalho desenvolvido, promovendo a ligação de artistas emergentes e outros mais experientes, a produção de objetos culturais e a manutenção do pensamento crítico e teórico. Cada residência arranca com uma prova de esforço expositiva na Árvore, e termina com uma exposição no Maus Hábitos, onde os artistas apresentam as consequências da sua residência.

The project Apneia presents the result of the work developed in its 1st artistic residency by Alexandra Rafael and João Leal. The exhibition explores the crossing and dialogue of the constructed objects from (and in consequence) the research of each artist. On one side Alexandra Rafael deals with the concept of action as emotional and/or material transformation, supporting and dragging in her drawings both the weight of her memory and the fragility of its construction. On the other side, João Leal explores the relationship with the public itself, where people are the activators of a filmic image sequence construction, supported by analogue mechanisms. The exhibition reveals itself as a common place of transformation and restlessness between the chaos of constructing an image and the sublimation of its end.

Apneia.1

Apneia is a platform developed by the artists Hugo Soares, João Gigante and Reis Valdrez, centred in supporting the production and theorization of Plastic Arts by creating artistic residencies. Aiming to summon distinct individualities united by a common artistic thinking, each residence is programed by the dialogues between the participant artists and the exhibition of the developed works. Promotes the connection of emerging artists with more experienced ones, the production of cultural objects and the maintenance of critical and theoretical thinking. Each residence starts with a pressure test exhibition in Árvore, and ends with a final exhibition at Maus Hábitos, where artists display the results of their residency.
