Blot! 
A técnica de pintar a partir de borrões acidentais de tinta sobre papel molhado (blots), e da sua observação deduzir paisagens, foi usada por Cozens (1717-1786) para fundar um novo método de ensino. Cozens sensibilizava alunos e artistas para a descoberta, nos borrões de tinta, de imagens da natureza mais verosímeis (aparentemente, mais verdadeiras) do que as observáveis directamente. É sabido que a imaginação, no exercício da observação do informe e do acidental, segue um impulso natural de reconhecimento de formas e parte para a construção de raciocínios revelando uma propensão para a narrativa. O mesmo ocorre em momentos de encontro com uma realidade política que se apresenta tão informe quanto uma mancha de humidade numa parede ou uma nuvem cinzenta. É a imaginação que gradualmente configura soluções, começando pelas mais criativas.

Blot!
The technique of painting from accidental blots of paint on wet paper, and from it’s observation deducting landscapes, was used by Cozens (1717-1786) to found a new teaching method. Cozens induced students and artists to find, in the ink blots, images of nature more plausible (apparently more true) than those observed directly. It is known that the imagination, in the exercise of observation and the report of the accident, following a natural impulse, shapes recognizable forms and constructs ideas and arguments revealing a tendency for narrative. The same occurs in moments of encounter with a political reality that presents itself formless as a damp stain on a wall or a gray cloud. It is the imagination that configures solutions, starting with the most creative.

Adam Uchytil
1980, Praga, Républica Checa
Estudou Design Gráfico e Comunicação Visual na Academia de Artes, Arquitetura e Design de Praga e pintura na Emilly Carr University, Vancouver e Taik University em Helsínquia. Actualmente trabalha como designer gráfico. É membro do grupo criativo OLDSCHOOL.

Adam Uchytil
1980, Prague, Czech Republic
He studied Graphic Design and Visual Communication at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague and painting at the Emilly Carr University, Vancouver and Taik University in Helsinki. Currently he works as a graphic designer and is a member of the creative group OLDSCHOOL.

Susana Gaudêncio
1977, Lisboa, Portugal
Estudou pintura na Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade de Lisboa e terminou o Mestrado em Belas Artes no Hunter College, City University of New York em 2008, tendo sido bolseira da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian e Fundação Luso-Americana. É aluna de doutoramento na FBAUL, com o apoio da FCT.

Susana Gaudêncio
1977, Lisboa, Portugal
She studied painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon and finished a Masters Degree in Fine Arts at Hunter College, City University of New York in 2008, with a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Luso-American Foundation. She is a PhD student at FBAUL, with the support of the FCT.
