Temos o prazer de o/a convidar para a inauguração da exposição H ó S P E D E, dia 19 de Abril de 2012, que terá lugar no 4º andar do Edifício Parnaso,  às 21h. (Rua Nossa Senhora de Fátima, 231, 4050-428 Porto)

O momento de inauguração incluirá a primeira audição de Três Canções para Violoncelo e Piano op.48, do compositor Fernando Corrêa de Oliveira, pelas violoncelista Gisela Neves e pianista Joana Resende. 

H ó S P E D E propõe-se explorar questões relativas à contaminação conceptual e formal entre artistas, fruto do convívio em trabalho de atelier, de relacionamentos e colaborações. A exposição apresenta projectos da autoria dos artistas plásticos Diana Carvalho, Jonas Lewek, José Oliveira, Rita Medinas Faustino e Sarah Klimsch, assim como dos designers de comunicação Dário Cannatà e Nikolas Sisic.

A mostra terá lugar num edifício emblemático da arquitectura modernista da cidade do Porto – o edifício Parnaso – que funcionou como escola de música, teatro e dança entre finais da década de 1950 e inícios do século XXI. A decisão de hospedar a exposição num edifício com a carga simbólica do Parnaso integra-se no conceito da exposição, pois enquanto utopia arquitectónica e artística, o edifício marca um determinado tempo da cidade, pleno de vivências culturais.

Programação Paralela

Para além da exposição e do lançamento da publicação acessória FESTIM, o projecto conta com uma programação paralela que acontecerá na semana posterior ao dia da inauguração.
Esta visa a reflexão das temáticas abordadas na exposição. Visitas guiadas ao espaço de exposição e conversas com os artistas, profissionais reconhecidos na área de crítica de arte/design e arquitectura, assim como com a equipa curatorial, serão o mote para um estudo e análise de toda a produção realizada para a H ó S P E D E.  A programação encontra-se destinada à comunidade académica e público geral interessado pelos temas explorados.

A participação nesses momentos deverá ser validada pela equipa curatorial mediante inscrição, através do envio de um e-mail ao endereço hospede.ec  gmail.com, no entanto, todos os momentos são abertos ao público, consoante a lotação do espaço.

H ó S P E D E explores issues connected to the conceptual and formal “contaminations” that take place between artists who work in close proximity, either because they all attended the same arts school - the Fine Arts School of Porto, shared the same studios, collaborated in common projects or developed intense friendships and/or partnerships during their education. By sharing some of the same references, being guided by the same mentors and following each other’s creative processes as students, young artists are naturally and almost unconsciously influenced by their closest peers. That is not to say that they themselves are not their unique artistic personas, but that these same personas are intrinsic to a larger community, built on various immaterial and subjective contaminations.
The exhibition will present works from the visual artists Diana Carvalho, Jonas Lewek, José Oliveira, Rita Medinas Faustino, Sarah Klimsch, and the communication designers Dário Cannatà and Nikolas Sisic.

The exhibition will be held in one of the most emblematic buildings of Porto’s modernist architecture – Edíficio Parnaso – which hosted the Academia Parnaso, a school devoted to the teaching of music, theater and ballet, between the end of the 1950’s and the beginning of the 21st century. Because the school represents a mark in the artistic and cultural history of the city, the decision to host the exhibition in the building’s rooftop and in one of its apartments can be seen as an attempt to re-enact some common memories, in a process similar to the exchange of references occurring between people sharing the same socio-historical background.

Parallel Events

In addition to the exhibition and launch of the associate publication FESTIM, the project will comprise parallel events, taking place during the week after the opening. Events such as conversations with the professionals involved in the project - artists, curators and specialists in art critique and theory, design and architecture - as well as guided tours to the exhibition and film projections, will happen. The aim of the parallel program is to promote reflection on the themes inherent to the project H ó S P E D E.  The parallel program is not only addressed to the academic community but to the general public interested in  the questions raised by art production and curatorship.
