O Fio da Navalha



A vida remete-nos a uma procura incessante entre o limite possível e do desejo do alcançável, da procura e da resposta que se mantêm no ser a que é inerente a linha do momento; esta reminiscência que W.

Somerset Maugham (1944) aborda na sua obra, traduz questões que colocamos sobre o sentido da vida, que reflectem a nossa experiência e vivência.



Estes dois artistas introduzem na sua obra estas influências e eis que surge o dialogo em que cada um expõe as suas experiências pessoais (relações da sociedade, cultura, local em que vivem e habitam), partilhando com / e patente nas fotografias.

Tuan T. Cao é um autor que estabelece através da técnica fotográfica o diálogo entre a realidade e o desejo numa dualidade visível.

Patrícia Fernandes transmite a manipulação da realidade através da inserção da névoa nas suas fotografias pintadas.

The Razor´s Edge



The (re)search between life and desire, happen in the edge, for all of us.

The response to this search is what keeps us in the limit between two worlds and in this moment we have a reminiscence of W. Somerset Maugham (1944), story The Razor's Edge with all questions about the meaning of life, daily-life, or not (!) dwell on our experience and reality.



With all these influences in mind, the dialogue between these two artists Tuan T. Cao and Patricia Fernandes happen and each one brings within itself the society, culture, local they inhabit. For Tuan T.

Cao, the photography holds a discussion between reality and desire, and for Patricia Fernandes, the painted photography transmits the manipulation of reality by adding layers, mist.

BIOS:



Patricia Fernandes



Nasceu em lisboa 1971,1995 licenciada em gestao em marketing ,  2000 curso de desenho na Faculdade de arquitectura do Porto,  2002/2003

Extension em pintura na UCLA- Universidade da California Los Angeles,

2002/ 2004 Extension em fotografia UCLA -Universidade da California Los ANGELES, 2003 Workshop de fotografia na Art School de San

Francisco,2006 Curso de escultura  no museu da quinta de Santiago,gabinete de Artes e Design. Viveu nos Estados Unidos e no Brasil.

Vive e trabalha no Porto.



Patricia Fernandes was born in Lisbon, 1971 and in 1995 she finish her

bachelor in Marketing. She lived, studied and worked in Los Angeles,

San Francisco and Brazil.

Patricia currently lives and works in Oporto - Portugal.





Tuan T. Cao



Tuan T. Cao nas ceu no Vietnam e emigrou com a sua familia para os USA depois da grande Guerra no Vietnam. Ele possui a Licenciatura de Belas Artes da California College of the Arts in San Francisco assim como estudou com os fotografos Larry Sultan e Jim Goldberg. Recentemente

(2010) recebeu o seu Mestrado em educacao artistic pela Teachers College Columbia University. Vive e trabalha em New York City.



Tuan T. Cao is a Chinese-Vietnamese American artist.  He was born in Vietnam and immigrated with his family to America in the aftermath of the Vietnam War.  He received his Bachelor of Fine Art from the California College of the Arts in San Francisco and studied with such noted photographers as Larry Sultan and Jim Goldberg.  He recently received his Master in Art Education from Teachers College Columbia University.  Tuan currently lives and works in New York City.
