RUTAS DE MONTAÑA CON LOS ARTISTAS SIMON POPE E IBON ARANBERRI

6 y 7 de marzo 2009, en Picos de Europa

Dentro de las actividades de la exposición There is No Road (The road

Simon Pope
Explora en su trabajo los encuentros entre paisaje y memoria por  
medio la evocación de los recuerdos individuales a través del  
diálogo. De este planteamiento parte la obra /Negotiating Picu//  
Cuturruñau/, producida para la exposición /There// is No Road (The  
road is made by walking)/. En el proceso de creación Simon Pope  
caminó con un pastor en la ruta de montaña que va desde Vega de Cien  
a Ceneya, en los Picos de Europa. En el taller se invita a 20  
participantes a compartir la misma experiencia, realizando con el  
artista la ruta en la que se tomarán decisiones conjuntamente como  
forma de exploración de la memoria a través de un diálogo consensuado.

Ibon Aranberri
El taller propone una experiencia basada en la observación y la  
acción, experimentando con formas de construcción de la imagen a  
partir del análisis de referencias históricas de corte amateur en la  
tradición del cine de montaña. En el marco de esta exposición  
muestra/ Exercises on the North Side/, una instalación que se  
presentó por vez primera en Documenta 2007. En ella evoca las  
narrativas clásicas y heroicas de la película de montaña convencional  
apuntando a la naturaleza colectiva de todo aquello que rodea a la  
escalada y a su representación fílmica.

FECHAS: viernes 6 y sábado 7 de marzo

HORARIO: salida el día 6 a las 8 h., vuelta el día 7 a las 18 h.

LUGAR: Parque Nacional Picos de Europa

NÚMERO DE PLAZAS: 20 plazas

DIRIGIDO A: creadores, investigadores y toda persona interesada en el  
paisaje, la experiencia de caminar y la creación audiovisual.

CUOTA DE INSCRIPCIÓN: 80 € (participando en ambas rutas)

PARTICIPACIÓN: La inscripción en esta actividad incluye el viaje en  
autobús el viernes por la mañana desde Gijón, y la vuelta el sábado  
por la tarde, la realización de la ruta con un guía de montaña, la  
estancia la noche del viernes y las comidas de ambos días. Los  
participantes deberán de venir equipados con ropa y calzado adecuado  
para la ruta de montaña.

Simon Pope
In his work Simon Pope explores the encounter between landscape and  
memory by means of evoking individual memories through dialogues.  
This was the initial approach behind Negotiating Picu Cuturruñau, his  
work produced for the exhibition There is No Road (The road is made  
by walking). In the process of creation Simon walked with a shepherd  
along the mountain pass in the Picos de Europa going from Vega de  
Cien to Ceneya. The workshop invites 20 artists and researchers to  
share the same experience, following the route with the artist and  
taking joint decisions as a form of exploring the memory.


Ibon Aranberri
Within the framework of this exhibition, Ibon Aranberri shows  
Exercises on the North Side, an installation first presented in  
Documenta 2007, recalling classical and heroic narratives of the  
conventional mountain movie and underscoring the collective nature of  
mountaineering and its filmic depiction. This workshop proposes an  
experience based on observation and action.
Returning to processes underpinning his film Exercises on the North  
Side which featured calculated repetitions and accidental elements,  
the workshop will explore forms of construction of the image based on  
an analysis of historical conventions in amateur mountaineering films.

DATES: Friday 6th March and Saturday 7th March

TIME: 6th March at 8pm (departure date) and 7th March at 6pm (return  
date)

VENUE: Picos de Europa National Park (Asturias, Spain)

PLACES: 20 (taking part in both routes)

paisaje, la experiencia de caminar y la creación audiovisual.

TARGETING: creators, researches and anyone interested in landscape,  
walking experiences and audiovisual creation.

ENROLMENT: 80 €

PARTICIPATION: Enrolment for this activity includes transport by bus  
from Gijon on Friday morning and the return on Saturday evening, the  
route with a mountain guide, overnight stay on Friday night and food  
during the two days. Participants must come equipped with proper  
clothing and footwear for mountain walking.

REGISTRATION: people interested in participating in this activity
